Reasons For Food Preservation
Preserving food means keeping food safe and fresh for a longer time. There are several reasons why we preserve food such as;
- Prevent Spoilage: Food spoils because of bacteria and other microorganisms. Preservation methods, like refrigeration and drying, stop these microorganisms from growing.
- Extend Shelf Life: Preserved foods last longer. This means we can keep food for weeks or months without it going bad.
- Maintain Nutritional Value: Preservation helps keep the vitamins and nutrients in food. For example, frozen vegetables keep most of their vitamins.
- Ensure Food Availability: By preserving food, we can have access to it even when it is not in season. For instance, we can eat mangoes all year round if they are preserved.
- Save Money: Buying food in bulk and preserving it can be cheaper than buying small amounts often. This helps save money and reduce trips to the market.

To evaluate the learning, the teacher asks pupils to:
