First Aid is the immediate help given to someone who is injured or suddenly becomes ill, before professional medical help can be provided.
-Objectives of First Aid.
- To Keep Someone Alive: Sometimes, people get really hurt or sick suddenly. The first thing we want to do is make sure they stay alive. This means doing things like making sure they can breathe or stopping any bleeding.
- To Stop Pain: When someone is hurt, they might feel pain. Part of First Aid is trying to help them feel better by doing simple things to reduce their pain until a doctor can check them.
- To Prevent More Injuries: If someone is already hurt, we don’t want them to get hurt even more. First Aid helps us keep their injuries from getting worse.
- To Help Someone Feel Safe and Calm: Getting hurt or seeing someone else get hurt can be scary. A big part of First Aid is being there for the person who’s hurt, talking to them in a soothing voice, and helping them feel safe until more help arrives.
- To Make Sick People Better: If we can, we try to help the person start feeling better. Sometimes, we might clean a cut or put a bandage on it, which can help start the healing process.
- To Get Help When Needed: Sometimes, we need to call for more help, like a doctor, a nurse, or an ambulance. Knowing when and how to get help is a very important part of First Aid.
